I was lucky enough to have a long coversation with the designer of the Inspiration rebreather Dave Thompson and came to the subject of the new compact CCR by Ambient Pressure Diving called the Evolution.

The Evolution whilst fully developed has one draw back that has put it difficult position with the HSE (Health and Safety Executive). The Evolution has been designed with a two scrubber lifespan (though its is being promoted as 3 hours) and twin 2 litre tanks. The end result is a miniute CCR which should ONLY be used by VERY experienced CCR divers and not used as a intro to CCR unit. The HSE may say that it is not enough and if this occurs we may well see the end of the Evolution before it was even born. Ambient Pressure will only sell products that have the HSE seal of approval (meaning CE certified). Even if the Evoultion is released tot he general public it will be over 1000€ more expensive than the Inspiration!

So what do little people do? The answer dive girl is that Dave, Bob and Justin have got together and are producing the Evoultion case for the Inspiration. The case will fit the current 3hour scrubber plus two 2 litre tanks. This way you can fit the small Ambient Pressue harness and a wing and it will fit even the smallest of puppies!!!!!!

Please not scrubber life is calculated as follows:

1. Only use Sofnolime 797
2. Maximum scrubber time 180 minutes
3. Be shallower than 50m at all times after 50 minutes use
4. Be shallower than 20m at all times after 140 minutes use
5. If in doubt, tip it out
6. If you don't follow 1 - 5 fine, don't moan if you get injured or die!
